Colloquium on Freedom of Conscience

January 21, 2014

colloqium on Freedom of conscience2
Date: Saturday, 15 February 2014
Time: 0900-1800H
Venue: White Box, Publika, Sri Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur
One of the assumptions in the dialogue of the civilizations is accepting the variety of ideas and religions. The civilizations are based on different cultures and different cultures have been found on the basis of various schools of thought and religions. For dialogue of civilizations and cultures is perhaps not possible without freedom of religion and thought.
But the reality today is that freedom of conscience is considered as one of the most highly debatable issues in our society. One segment of the society believes that Islam ensures freedom of religion and thought. For Islam is a liberating call, a comprehensive liberating revolution to liberate the minds, to release people from fear, to release their lives from tyranny and their gains from exploitation and domination.
While another much greater segment believes that the society should be controlled from any unwanted ideas that could contaminate the minds. And that people who are exposed to the propaganda of various ideas and religions would be easily deviated from the right path and would be influenced by evil forces and subsequently lose their religion and creed. And the only way to ensure that people remain faith to their religion is to forbid any discourse on ideas and beliefs.
It is the aim of the colloquium to answer the following questions: What is meant by freedom of conscience and religion? Where does it fit in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights? What is the point of view of the popular Islamic interpretation on the subject of freedom of conscience and religion? And is freedom of conscience beneficial or is it destructive? These are some of the questions that will be discussed and dissected in this colloquium.

soru free 2 hari, seh :P

Hello friends,
It has been sometimes since my last email to this group of great volunteers.   Now we have a very important duties to do to help the country.  We need to stop the Delimitation Constituency Boundaries which will be submitted by the SPR in coming March.  Time is limited here!!  We need 100 people per constituency to be effective!!  So we need to create awareness among the people throughout the country.

I would say all of us had done a very good job to create the great awareness among the general public during the last election.  We need to continue the great effort for our country and our children.

Bar Council will held a 2 days event on the Delimitation of Constituency Boundaries with the support of Tindak Malaysia in coming Feb as details below:

Title            : Public Forum Towards a Fairer Electoral System
Date            : 15 and 16 February 2014, Saturday and Sunday
Venue         : Petaling Jaya Civic Centre, Jalan Yong Shook Lin, Petaling Jaya
Time           : 9.00 am – 6.00 pm

For Tindak Malaysia to support the event, we need a lot of volunteers to help in the following areas:
1.     Delimitation Booth
2.     PACABA booth
3.     Registration and coordination

Do come on board for this very important event for our country and children.  Tell us which shift you are available to participate we will arrange to slot you in one of the functions mentioned above:
·        Saturday and Sunday
·        Saturday or Sunday
·        Saturday morning shift (until lunch)
·        Saturday afternoon shift (start lunch)
·        Sunday morning shift (until lunch)
·        Sunday afternoon shift (start lunch)

Audiences need to get a ticket to join the forum.  Volunteers can join for free during our free time but no seats will be allocated.  Half a day training will be conducted to get you ready to function.
When we were working together during the past 1 to 3 years for the same objective for a better country, there were some problems and misunderstanding in between.  However, I do believe to leave the little problems behind us and move on together for the good course – A better future for our country and children!

Respond to my email if you are able to help and provide me with your handphone contact, we will keep you in our record and will keep you inform of the training. Enclosed is the agenda for the 2 days event for your reference.
