KUALA LUMPUR: Penarikan sijil pengesahan halal Malaysia Hotel Grand Season Kuala Lumpur berkuatkuasa serta-merta kerana melanggar piawaian Manual Prosedur Pensijilan Halal Malaysia, kata Ketua Pengarah Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (Jakim), Datuk Wan Mohamad Sheikh Abdul Aziz.

DAP KINI PAP? SO KIASU!
Beach clean out on Friday
By Phuah Ken Lin
The joint operation by federal agencies is set to put a stop to the protracted illegal activities which have plagued the image of the beach for decades.
Known as Ops Sepadu, state police chief Datuk Ayub Yaakob said the holistic approach was aimed at weeding out all errant parties.
Ayub said the police planned to get rid of DVD and counterfeit peddlers, unlicensed entertainment and eatery joints as well as unauthorised water sports activities.
"Our aim is to restore the lustre to the Pearl of the Orient.
"We will put our feet down by pooling all resources to nip in the bud the unlicensed and illegal activities along Batu Ferringhi," Ayub said at a briefing with hoteliers and enforcement agencies yesterday.
Ayub also said that the operation would be ongoing until all the illegal activities ceased.
He added that the traffic police would mount regular road blocks and operations to curb traffic offenders while the commercial crime department would arrest DVD traders on the spot.
Among the local and federal agencies involved in the operation were the Penang Island Municipal Council (MPPP), Customs Department and Immigration Department, Anti-Drug Agencies and Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry enforcement officers.
Meanwhile, MPPP licensing department director Rafiah Mohd Radzi said there were plans to legalise roadside stall traders and water sports activities.
"We will relocate and rearrange the night market layout and motorised activities as they have been an integral part of Batu Ferringhi," Rafiah said.
She said MPPP would issue summonses on illegal traders and issue eviction notices for them to move out.

KUALA LUMPUR: Keretapi Tanah Malayu Berhad is looking at ways to fine male passengers who use its "pink coaches" reserved for women.
KTMB president Dr Aminuddin Adnan said since their launch in April, there had been an average of three encroachments a week, including cases of women being harassed.
He said there were probably other cases which went unreported, possibly due to the embarrassing nature of the incidents.
Aminuddin said there was an urgent need for regulations to enforce the practice.
"There are some men who purposely board the coaches, despite clear signs that they are only meant for women.
"We are currently drafting a proposal for the government which will cover aspects such as enforcement and structure of the fines."
Launched on April 28, the introduction of the pink coaches was to give women commuters a safe and convenient service.
Such women-only coaches are also available in Japan and some European countries.
Currently, big white posters with pink writing decorate the pink coaches at train stations and there are signs clearly indicating where to queue for them.
Announcements are also made regularly over the public address system to advise women to board these special coaches.
At present, women with children under 12 are allowed into these pink coaches. Exceptions are made for handicapped and elderly men.
Aminuddin said KTMB would get the help of auxiliary policemen once the women-only rule is strictly enforced.
He hoped that other commuter operators would also introduce women-only coaches and cooperate in monitoring encroachments.
"Male passengers should respect the privacy of the women.
"By imposing fines, we hope to deter such incidents."
